卑詩省M-218法案提議實施空置管制，規定房東在單位空置時，租金不得超過前一位租戶的租金加上法定調幅。這將使租金調整與單位綁定，而非每次換租時重設市場價。雖然租金仍可每年上調2.3%，或經租客同意及特定批准例外，但該法案可能影響房地產投資及住房可負擔性。目前法案已通過一讀，尚未成為法律。
